To the Members of the Port Dover Power & Sail Squadron:
The world has changed considerably since we held our last AGM and came together to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Port Dover Power & Sail Squadron. We have all had to adapt to a “new normal” and figure out how to navigate through these unfamiliar waters. In light of the best advice and directives from the government, healthcare professionals as well as the leaders at our national office we will not be conducting any face to face meetings at this time.
We all must adapt to new ways to communicate and do business. With that in mind, our Annual General Meeting this year will be a “virtual meeting” using Microsoft Teams which is an industry standard video conferencing solution. This year’s AGM will be held on Monday May 25, 2020 @ 7:00 pm. As long as you have an internet connected device (desktop PC, laptop, iPad/tablet, smartphone) you should be able to participate provided that your device has a camera and microphone. Laptops would work best as they have a camera and microphone built in but most tablets would also do the job. Web browsers compatible with Microsoft Teams include Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 11 and Edge. For Apple users, please note that Teams is NOT compatible with Safari. For those using tablets or smartphones, you will have better success if you download the “Microsoft Teams” app for free from either the App Store for Apple products or Google Play store for Android users.
To attend the AGM:
You can join the meeting up to 15 minutes prior to its commencement.
Clicking the link will allow you join the meeting in one of two ways:
If you have the Microsoft Teams app already installed on your device, the app will open you will be able to join the meeting within the app. When prompted, type in your name and then click “Join Meeting” and the meeting host will be notified as each participant arrives and will grant you access to the meeting.
For anyone that does not have the app, your browser open and you will be taken to a screen which will give the choice to download the app (optional) or join using your web browser…either will allow you to join the meeting. When prompted, type in your name and then click “Join Meeting” and the meeting host will be notified as each participant arrives and will grant you access to the meeting.
If you experience issues with accessing the meeting, you may contact Bill Jerry at 519-456-5550 for assistance. If you are unfamiliar with meeting in this manner, it is suggested that you log in early as no assistance can be rendered after the start of the meeting.
