Become a Blood Donor and help to save lives!

  • February 9, 2022

By Wendy Anes Hirschegger, Membership Officer

The Port Dover Power & Sail Squadron is a Partner for Life with the Canadian Blood Services and as such we encourage our members to make regular appointments to donate blood. The need for blood is ongoing:

“Blood, plasma, platelets, stem cells, organs and tissues are a critical part of everyday medical care including major surgeries, medical procedures, cancer treatments and managing diseases.

You could be helping a child being treated for cancer, a mother who has just given birth, or a father about to have heart surgery. Every donation you make matters. It matters to every patient and their loved ones across Canada.”

Squadron members (and their family and friends) who are already blood donors or who wish to become blood doors are encouraged to sign up to be one of our Partner for Life team members by going to:

https://www.blood.ca/en/ways-donate/donate-partner/becoming-partner/team-member-registration

  • If you are a new donor, create an account or, if you already have donor account with Canadian Blood Services, enter your username and password to log in.
  • Select ‘Partners’ from the left-hand menu, enter our Partners for Life ID PORT680356 and select ‘Join the team.’

This is a one-time registration; once you are a team member, every blood donation you give is counted towards the Squadron’s annual pledge of 25 donations.

To book or change a blood donation appointment today, locate a donor centre, check your eligibility to donate blood and more, visit blood.ca, call 1-888-2DONATE (1-888-236-6283) or download the GiveBlood app available for iOS on the App Store or for Android on Google Play.
